The Right Person at the Right Place

We were very fortunate to have a special guest Rev. Khin Maung Than at our church on Sept 4, 2008. He delivered a very inspiring message. Here is the excerpt from his sermon.
Text: Psalm 118:8,9
Psa. 118:8          It is better to take refuge in the LORD
than to put confidence in mortals.
Psa. 118:9          It is better to take refuge in the LORD
than to put confidence in princes.
The secret of success, joy, and peace in Christian life is having the right person at the right place. The beginning of one’s life problem is when one keeps oneself at the head or the decision maker of one’s life, family, and church. God must be the head or the decision maker of every sphere of our lives. God should be the sole director whereas we should be like actors and actresses who follow the instructions of the director.
There are five characteristics of believers, who put God as the head of their lives. They are:
1. At a thankful moment, they praise God. They don’t celebrate it with alcohol.
2. At a difficult moment, they seek God. They don’t keep their hope in human beings.
3. At a quite moment, they worship God. They don’t spend their time for gossiping.
4. At a painful moment, they trust in God. They don’t revenge others but leave it for God.
5. At every moment, they thank God. They don’t blame on others and the situation.
One of his sentences that strikes me very much is that “if you follow Jesus, you will also have to bear the cross. In other words, there is no choice but you will also have to share the suffering of Christ if you follow him.”
