Six Steps in Walking with God by Dr. Charles Stanley

There are six steps that prepare our lives to walk with God every day:
1. Surrender
  • Confess with all your heart, strength, and will that, “Jesus, you are my Lord. Have your way, but not mine, in my life.” When you get up everyday, determine your life to surrender to God.
2. Sensitivity
  • Listen to God carefully.
  • You have gone out of step because your attention is other than being with Jesus.
  • May our attention be like Jesus who does what pleases to God (John 8:28-29).
3. Scripture
  • To know how to live, imitate the life of Jesus in the Bible (Eph 4:17-20).
  • Living outside the life of Jesus leads us to dissolution.
4. Supplication
  • We need a strong prayer that is a close fellowship with God.
  • There are too many voices in our minds to pull us out of steps.
  • Strong prayerful life will enable us to concentrate only on the voice of Jesus.
5. Self-denial
  • As soon as you get up, say, “Lord, I don’t want to run my life. Please, you run my life.”
  • By walking with him, you cannot lose but without walking with him, you cannot win.
6. Service
  • Whatever you do to please God is serving the Lord.
  • 1Pet. 4:10 Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received.
  • 1Pet. 4:11 Whoever speaks must do so as one speaking the very words of God; whoever serves must do so with the strength that God supplies, so that God may be glorified in all things through Jesus Christ. To him belong the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.
